Bayardalai's BLOG 2

Bayardalai is a social studies teacher at Hatgal School, lives with his wife Bayartsetseg, and two daughters Jinjiimaa (4yo) and Shuuder (1 yo). His wife is also a biology teacher at Hatgal School. During summer time Bayardalai moves with his family to his summer house near Hovsgol Lake, where he was born and raised, which is 32 km away from Hatgal village. His parents are still living in this area, to be close with them and help them to take care of the animals he built his own house in 2014 and since then he has been moving every summer to this area. The area called Jankhai, Burgastyn Am and it’s around 4 hectares.

He grows yaks and horses, during summer time he rents his horses to the tourists, last year he couldn’t make any profit because of the Covid and it was hard for him to support his family as they also had a new born baby, this year was little bit better as he rented the horses to the domestic tourists. For drinking and food they use water from Hovsgol Lake, it is 1,5 km away from their house, Bayardalai use motorcycle to get the water. As a teacher, Bayardalai isreally concerned and worried about the pollution of Hovsgol Lake National Park and Hovsgol Lake as the number of domestic and international tourists, tourist camps and boats are increasing each year, and there are no proper infrastructure management to protect the area.

His wife Bayartsetseg and kids are happy to live in the area as well. Because kids are growing close to their grandparents, close with nature and starting to learn and help to take care of animals, calves and with daily chores. Her older daughter helps her and grandparents a lot to take care of calves, to milk them, to prepare dairy products for winter, to look after her little sister and etc. She likes to play Mongolian traditional game Shagai harvah (Ancle bone shooting). The area they live don’t have electricity, they use batteries to charge necessary equipment. Bayardalai and Bayartsetseg both like to spend summer time in this area as kids are away from TV, smart phone and digital world.
